16-Year Old Trans Streamer Detained By Police While Playing Minecraft

Tennessee police interrupted a 16-year old's Minecraft livestream last week, reportedly "dragging her into foster care" after she was deemed truant from a school that misgendered her. VioWynn, a transgender girl, had her stream forcibly ended by police, who seemingly cut her internet access before detaining her.

Wynn's situation has been highlighted by fellow trans livestreamer, Keffals, who is seeking support for the 16-year old. The stream cuts off before we see Wynn get detained by the police, and it's not yet known if she's been placed with a foster family, or has been returned to her family.

As can be seen in the last moments of Wynn's livestream, the young girl tries her best to ignore the officers' presence when they break into her room. She was only able to stream for 17 minutes before they took her away, but she did anticipate their arrival.

"This will probably be the last stream ever because they're trying to get me to either kill myself or go into foster care or something. Instead of just giving me an education.", Wynn opens in her stream. "Honestly, I just want to go to school. But they don't want me to go to school because I'm trans. I'm just really stressed out."

Wynn continues to speak about her situation as she starts playing. "I love streaming. It's honestly one of the only things in life that I really enjoy. And they're trying to put me into foster care where I can't even do that. I was already adopted once, I don't need to be adopted again. I just need to be able to go to school. I'm just worried I'll get abused.

"I don't understand why the state of Tennessee would rather ruin a child's life than just let her go to school[...]I wish I just had a future instead of having any chance I had at happiness in life just be stripped away from me...I don't know why they just want to condemn me."

Keffals has asked legal professionals to reach out to her at [email protected] if they are able to help Wynn. TheGamer has reached out to the streamer, and will update this report if we hear anything else about Wynn's situation.

Update 19:45 BST: Wynn has since gone live on Twitch, having returned home for the weekend.
